5 Things to Do in Las Vegas for Labor Day Weekend 29 Aug, 2018
5 Things to Do in Las Vegas for Labor Day Weekend
The first Monday of every September is Labor Day.
That’s the day we celebrate the American workforce – all the men and women who grind away in farmhouses, construction yards, stores, offices, restaurants, dispensaries, etc. so that we can keep our economy and our lives running smoothly.
Who’s ready for a day off?
Scratch that: who’s ready for the whole weekend off?
Here are 5 things to do in Las Vegas this Labor Day weekend!
1. Casino Pool Party!
We love summertime as much as the next dispensary…but this heat, y’all!
Now’s the perfect time to spend the morning and afternoon in a pool – preferably at a pool party!
Labor Day pool parties will be in full effect this weekend. Check out this link for ideas of where to go.
Just be sure to arrive early if you’re doing general admission, as these events tend to fill up quickly.
Better yet, reserve a seat or a full-fledged cabana ahead of time so that you can skip the line altogether.
2. Take a Tour of Hoover Dam
Wanna celebrate Labor Day by witnessing the full power of human labor at its finest?
Take a tour of the famous Hoover Dam – a national landmark and one of the most remarkable feats of twentieth-century engineering you’ll ever see.
The dam is 1,244 feet long, 726 feet tall, and 660 feet thick at the base (the equivalent of two football fields, end-to-end).
It was built for flood control, irrigation…and it generates hydroelectric power for Nevada, Arizona, and California.
Pretty awesome, we think. Here’s a link for tour reservations.
3. Visit The Freemont Street Experience
After the temperature starts to cool down, or before it really starts to heat up, we highly recommend taking a stroll down The Freemont Street Experience. It’s one of the best walking attractions here in Vegas.
You’ll see tons of trendy bars, restaurants, bookstores, shops, performers, and casinos…plus, you don’t have to deal with crazy Strip traffic. Just foot traffic!
4. Go to a Barbecue
If you’re a Vegas local who wants to celebrate Labor Day at home, then fire up the grill, invite a few friends over, and let the eating and drinking commence!
But what about tourists who’re visiting from out of town but still want some of that barbecue flavor?
If you’re near Freemont Street, look for the Project BBQ food truck. Or if you want a sit-down place, roll on over to Rick’s Rollin’ Smoke BBQ & Tavern.
Both of these spots have top Google ratings. And if you go to Rick’s Rollin’ Smoke BBQ & Tavern, you might meet Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars!
