Cómo hacer el mejor sándwich de cannabis para el mes nacional del sándwich
Do we even need a reason to celebrate the sandwich?
Maybe so. Sandwiches are pretty ordinary. We take them for granted because they’re so easy to make. Two slices of bread with some filler food — meat, cheese, peanut butter, ice cream, what-have-you– and viola! You got yourself a rockin’ sock ‘em sandwich.
But what if sandwiches didn’t exist? Of course, that’s crazy talk, but just imagine it. Take a second, close your eyes, and picture what your world would be like if you could never again sink your teeth into a giant, juicy samich. No more peanut butter and jelly. No more grilled cheese. No more hoagies. No more nothing!
Terrible! Awful! The stuff of nightmares! And that, friends, is why we should never take sandwiches for granted. So if August is indeed National Sandwich Month – which, in fact, it is — you’d best believe we’re going to honor that fact by showing you how to make the best cannabis sandwich.
So how’d we wind up with sandwiches anyways?
The sandwich is named after the eighteenth century English aristocrat John Montagu, otherwise known as the “fourth Earl of Sandwich.” The earl, as it turns out, was a huge gambler, and enjoyed long, uninterrupted hours of playing cards…to the point that he wouldn’t even take a meal break.
Sounds like he’d do well in Vegas – or not, depending on how good he was at cards. Did he at least get up to use the bathroom? Sheesh!
Anyways, to keep from starving to death at the card table, he’d ask his servants to bring him slices of meat wedged between two slices of bread. He picked up a reputation for this quirky dining habit, and according to legend, his friends began to order, “the same as Sandwich!” And boom! That’s how we got the sandwich!
The History of the Sandwich
But even though that’s how the sandwich originally got its name, the Earl of Sandwich wasn’t the first person to make use of this concept. Legend has it that the Jewish sage Hillel the Elder would wrap lamb meat inside of matzah bread during Passover and eat it that way – kind of like a wrap! And flatbreads have a long history of being used to scoop or wrap small amounts of food in parts of Western and South Asia and Northern Africa.
Making Cannabis Sandwiches
Now how exactly do you go about infusing cannabis into your sandwich?
The easiest, most straightforward way is to use a cannabis-infused condiment like
- Butter
- Coconut oil
- Mustard
- BBQ sauce
Once you’ve got your favorite condiment, you’re ready to get cracking. Now let’s move on to the recipes!
Grilled Cannabis Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich
What You Need
- Two slices of bread
- 1-2 tablespoons of cannabis coconut oil
- Peanut butter
- Jelly (any flavor!)
How to Make It
- Place a pan over low-medium heat.
- Spread coconut oil on to one side of each bread slice.
- On the second side of each slice of bread, spread your peanut butter and jelly, respectively.
- Place one of the slices of bread into the pan with the coconut-oil side face down. Top this slice of bread with the other bread slice with the coconut oil side face up.
- Once the bottom piece is golden brown, flip the sandwich and cook the other side. Once both sides are toasted, your sandwich is ready!
