Recognizing that you’re suffering from depression is an important step towards overcoming it. Here are some important treatment options to consider:

Therapy – A licensed therapist can help you cope with your feelings, identify patterns in your behavior that may be contributing to your symptoms, and devise strategies to improve your outlook on life.

Exercise – Depression is linked to low levels of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. Exercise can boost these levels as well as increase the amount of anandamide in your brain (anandamide is an endocannabinoid – a chemical compound similar to THC and CBD – that is produced naturally by your body and has antidepressant effects).

Cannabis – A study conducted by Washington State University suggests that cannabis can be effective at treating depression. Researchers found that users who took a single puff of high-CBD, low-THC cannabis experienced a reduction in their depression symptoms.

However, the same study found that long-term cannabis use may make depression symptoms worse.

For this reason, it’s important that cannabis be used to supplement other forms of treatment.

If you’re considering using cannabis to treat your depression, you should first speak with your doctor and your therapist (if you have one). Then you can speak with one of our dispensary consultants to find the best product for your needs.
